Menopause isn’t slowing women down – in fact, it’s inspiring many to rediscover joy through new hobbies and passions.
A new OnePoll survey of 2,000 women over 40, commissioned by Vitabiotics Menopace, reveals that 50% of women take up new activities during menopause—and the majority feel empowered, not restricted, by this natural transition.
The study highlights that 92% of women don’t want menopause to stop them from doing what they love, and many are exploring hobbies, career shifts, and wellness routines they previously put on hold.
🌼 From Anxiety to Empowerment
While 35% of respondents admitted to feeling anxious at the early signs of menopause, 1 in 5 (20%) said the experience ultimately gave them the confidence to spend more time on themselves.
Popular new activities include:
-
Gardening and nature walks
-
Meditation, yoga, and mindfulness
-
Traveling and exploring new places
-
Fitness routines at the gym
-
Home renovation or DIY projects
-
Joining social clubs or taking dance classes
Some women are even going as far as changing careers or starting side hustles. In London, dance classes are trending, while women in the East of England prefer gardening, and those in the South East are diving into healthy eating.
🔥 Motivation Behind the Movement
The study shows:
-
23% of women prioritize health and well-being during menopause
-
18% seek to manage stress and anxiety
-
16% report increased confidence as the biggest benefit
-
Other benefits include a sense of achievement, staying independent, and having something to look forward to
Despite challenges like time, money, and motivation, the urge to live life fully is stronger than ever. If nothing held them back, 31% of women said they would travel the world, while others dream of writing a book or reinventing their image.
💬 Real Advice From Real Women
The research found that 60% of women believe sharing menopause experiences is important. Conversations help break taboos, inspire others, and strengthen community.
Top advice women would give others during menopause:
